Get on Spotify Playlists

Interested in How to Get on Spotify Playlists? Read on.

Spotify has added a new feature to Spotify for Artists, which allows their artist & label community to submit unreleased songs to be considered for inclusion in playlists, by their in-house team of editorial staff.

The feature is included in both the Spotify for Artists, and Spotify Analytics toolsets. Anyone with access to these services will be able to choose one unreleased song from a release to submit.

To submit a song for consideration follow these simple steps:

1. Log in to Spotify for Artists on desktop (it is not currently possible to use the Spotify for Artists mobile apps to submit songs).

2. Use any one these three ways to find and submit unreleased music:

  • At the top of the ‘Home’ tab, select ‘SUBMIT A SONG’ next to the release you want to submit.
  • In the ‘Profile’ tab, hover over the release you want to submit and click the three dots (…). Select ‘Submit a song’.
  • In the ‘Catalog’ tab, under ‘UPCOMING’, select ‘SUBMIT A SONG’ next to the release you want to submit

3. Fill out as much information as possible – the more information Spotify receives, the better chance your music has of being considered.

Before you get started, there are some things you must keep in mind. A major thing to bear in mind is that as your distributor, we must deliver your release more than 1 week in advance of your release date, to ensure you have enough time to pitch to the editorial teams. You can read the full list on Spotify’s own website here.

What can I do to increase my chances of getting on a Spotify playlist?

We’d recommend reading this guide: How Do I Make the Most of Spotify?

We’ve helped thousands of artists get music on Spotify, for a simple, one-off distribution fee per release. For more information on our pricing, and to get started, click here. Just make sure you opt-in to the Spotify contract when you add your release to your EmuBands account.

Can EmuBands help me pitch my release?

Yes! We would be delighted to assist you with pitching your release to Spotify and other DSPs where possible.

If you are on an EmuBands Pro subscription plan, you have access to this service from our Artists Relations team. When we email you to confirm that your release is ready for distribution, as part of the same email, there will be a link to submit pitching information for your release, so look out for this coming in. Once you submit your pitching information to us, our team can get your release pitched for you.

Please keep in mind that our team needs 4-6 weeks of lead-in time ahead of your release going live to pitch it for you, so you should add your release to our system via your EmuBands account with this in mind. Whilst we will always aim to submit the best possible pitches for your releases, we cannot guarantee your music will be included in any playlists on any stores.

If you have an EmuBands Basic or Plus subscription, you will need to upgrade your subscription plan via the ‘Subscription’ section of your EmuBands account, before you can access our release pitching service.
