What is Verified by Spotify?
Verified by Spotify is a new feature designed to help listeners identify authentic artist profiles on Spotify.
Artists who meet Spotify’s authenticity standards will receive a Verified by Spotify badge displayed on their profile. The feature is intended to strengthen trust between artists and listeners as music discovery continues to evolve. By providing more context around the artists behind the music, Spotify aims to help genuine artists stand out on the platform. A Verified by Spotify badge confirms that Spotify has reviewed the artist profile and determined it meets the platform’s authenticity standards.
Not all artists will qualify immediately. Verification will roll out gradually and Spotify will continue reviewing artists on an ongoing basis. The rollout will begin in late May 2026, with badges appearing on artist profiles and alongside artist names in Spotify search results. Find out more information here.
What new features are launching?
Spotify is launching the Verified by Spotify badge for eligible artist profiles, as well as a new artist details section in beta that will display information such as release history, playlist placements, and touring activity.
How does Spotify decide who gets verified?
Spotify reviews a variety of signals when determining eligibility, including:
- Consistent listener activity and engagement over time
- Good standing with Spotify’s platform policies
- Signals that a real artist exists behind the profile, such as:
- Concert dates
- Merchandise
- Linked social accounts on the artist profile
- Presence both on and off-platform
Spotify may also consider indicators that listeners are actively seeking out an artist over a sustained period of time, such as:
- At least 10K monthly listeners over a consecutive three month period
- 1K or more Spotify followers
These indicators help establish baseline listenership signals and support Spotify’s ability to conduct accurate reviews across a manageable pool of eligible artists.
Spotify may also prioritize artists who have made meaningful contributions to music culture and history, as well as artists building notable cultural momentum and relevance, even if their current streaming audience is smaller. Editorial considerations may play a role in determining which artists are reviewed.
If an artist doesn’t have the badge yet, does that mean they won’t get verified?
No. Not seeing the badge immediately does not mean an artist will not become Verified by Spotify in the future. Verification will happen on an ongoing basis as more artists are reviewed over time.
What is the new artist details section?
The new artist details section is a beta feature that gives listeners additional context about artists using Spotify data, including release history, playlist placements, and touring activity.
How does this connect to Spotify’s other features?
Verified by Spotify and the new artist details section built on other recent Spotify features such as ‘SongDNA’, expanded Song Credits, and ‘About the Song’. Together, these features aim to provide listeners with deeper insight into the music and artists they discover.
